The Sacred Valley Classic itinerary hour by hour: Taray, Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero
Book for tomorrow: Express US$32 · Classic US$30 · is there space? · how to book
The day, stop by stop
An hour more sleep than the Express. The bus works its way around the hotels of the historic center; your exact time arrived last night on WhatsApp. Passport and soles.
A 15-minute stop above the valley, at 2,972 m, already below Cusco: the first view of the Urubamba river, the terraces and Pisac in the distance. No entrance fee.
An hour on the terraces that hug the mountain and in the religious sector with the Intihuatana, at 3,300 m; first Tourist Ticket checkpoint. Then half an hour free at the town market (2,972 m).
Andean buffet at Rustica, included; 14 Inkas, Don Ángel or Tunupa if you chose an upgrade. 50 minutes at 2,871 m, the lowest point of the route so far. Drinks are extra.
A fortress-temple on the hillside, the Temple of the Sun with its six monoliths and the inhabited Inca town, at 2,790 m. If you chose the version that finishes here, the tour ends at 3:30 pm inside the archaeological park, a 15-minute walk from the station.
The only stop above Cusco, at 3,762 m, and deliberately the last one: you arrive with the day behind you. A textile center (alpaca spinning, plant and cochineal dyes, backstrap weaving), Inca terraces and a colonial church on Inca foundations.
45 minutes back. The bus drops you in the center of the city, not at your hotel.
Altitude profile
The Classic crosses the valley from east to west and saves the only climb, Chinchero, for the end. From Taray to Ollantaytambo everything stays below the 3,350 m of Cusco; that is why it is the route we recommend to anyone who landed today.

Fewer stops than the Express and more time at each: it is a pace, not a cut. For Maras and Moray, the Express.
The version that ends in Ollantaytambo
The same itinerary until 3:30 pm: Taray, Pisac, lunch and Ollantaytambo. It ends there, inside the archaeological park, a 15-minute walk from the train station. It does not visit Chinchero and costs US$29: the cheapest departure on the site, and the lowest. Classic ending in Ollantaytambo →
What can change
- The order of the stops can shift slightly for traffic or weather; the same places are always visited.
- Your pickup time depends on your part of the center: it reaches you on WhatsApp the night before.
- Getting back to Cusco at 6:30 pm is the norm; with traffic it can run a few minutes late.
Bookings for tomorrow: non-refundable; you can move the date if there is space, and we reschedule or refund if we cancel because of the weather.
