Sacred Valley entrance tickets: what the Tourist Ticket covers and why Maras is paid separately

No entrance fee is included in the tour price. The Tourist Ticket covers the archaeological sites on your route (Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Chinchero and Moray, depending on the departure); the salt mines fee is charged by the community of Maras and only applies on the Express routes. Both are paid in soles on the day of the tour. We confirm the current amounts on WhatsApp when you book, including if you book today for tomorrow.
If you book today before 8 pm, tonight you get your pickup time and the exact amount for your entrance fees for tomorrow.—Ask the amount

You pay two different things. The Tourist Ticket is a state pass for the archaeological sites of the region. The salt mines fee is charged on site by the community of Maras, because the pans are theirs and their families work them. That is why one does not include the other, and why neither appears in the tour price: they are set by third parties and change without notice.

A pass for the archaeological sites

The guide sorts it before the first checkpoint; bring soles and your passport. If you already have a valid one covering the sites on your route, it works.

The fee the community charges

More than 3,000 pans worked by families from Maras; that is why it is not part of the state ticket. Only on the Express departures, at 9:30 am.

How and when they are paid

When you book

The tour is paid on WeTravel; the entrance fees are not, because third parties set them. In the confirmation we tell you how much to bring.

The night before

On WhatsApp, along with your pickup time, we confirm the current amounts for the ticket and for Maras on your route.

On the day of the tour

The guide sorts the ticket before the first checkpoint; at Maras you pay the community fee at the entrance. All in soles, in cash.

Why we do not publish the figure

They are set by the Tourist Ticket administration and by the community of Maras, not by us, and they change without notice. A number published today may stop being true next month, and someone booking the night before needs tomorrow’s figure, not the one from when this page was written. That is why we confirm it on WhatsApp in the same message as your pickup time.

How much cash to bring

  • Entrance fees for your route: we confirm the amount the night before
  • The lunch upgrade, only if you did not pay it online
  • Shopping in Chinchero and Pisac: the artisans do not take cards
  • Drinks at the buffet and tips, optional

Bookings for tomorrow: non-refundable; you can move the date if there is space, and we reschedule or refund if we cancel because of the weather.

Yes, as long as it is valid and covers the sites on your route. Tell the guide before the first checkpoint and carry it with your passport.

You can, at the official sales points in Cusco, but there is no need: the guide sorts it on the day before the first checkpoint, so you pay for exactly the sites on your route.

The Tourist Ticket has reduced fares for students with a valid card and for minors under its own rules; we confirm it on WhatsApp with the ages and documents before you book.

You can stay at the upper viewpoint without paying the community fee while the group walks down to the pans; just tell the guide. The rest of the route does not change.

No. It is a 15-minute roadside stop, only on the Classic, with no checkpoint and no ticket.

Because third parties set and collect them (the state and the community of Maras) and they change without notice. Including them would mean padding the price or correcting it constantly; we prefer a stable tour price and an entrance figure confirmed the night before.
