What they are

9:30 am · 45 min · 3,385 m

Maras Salt Mines

More than 3,000 pans on a hillside fed by an underground spring of salt water, worked since before the Incas by families from the community of Maras. The water is left to evaporate in each pan and the salt is harvested by hand. First thing in the morning the upper viewpoint is almost empty and the light comes in sideways.

Moray

Amphitheaters of circular terraces cut into natural hollows. There is a marked temperature difference between the highest and the lowest terrace, which is why they are thought to have been an agricultural laboratory for testing crops at different altitudes. You can walk down to the floor of the largest amphitheater.
